Category: Accessible Games
Hi,
Have you played Galaxy Ranger from www.vipgameszone.com? There is not much discussion on the blindgamers list. Even the latest audyssey magazine did not mention this game. If you haven't bought this game, I wonder why is it so. You know, when I first had my hands on this game during beta testing, I thought that many gamers will buy this game. The response
from many gamers who played the demo is, "it's a good game, but won't be in a hurry to buy it". I don't understand. Since gamers feel that this is a good
game, what is holding you back? Unlike the response of many other games, gamers get it immediately.
Is it because the speech and sounds are not to your liking?
Game is too complicated?
The written English is not good?
Because of certain gamers' comments?
Gamers only support certain game companies?
Gamers prefer to buy games from that developer who will chit chat with them no matter how much problems he causes?
Note that I ask simply because I feel that there should be more gamers playing this game. It's really a good game. Don't miss it.
oh yes galaxy ranger is really a grate game. i think it's one or the best accessible games i had played so far and it's really worth the money. after purchasing the full version of the game at only us27 or so, i can get unlimited online play against other galaxy ranger players. i don't have to pay monthly charges like some other online games. and don't forget that this is the first accessible online strategy game. and so of course like all strategy games, it will usually take a long time for a game to complete depending of the skill and strategy of both players of course. and for those of you people out there who is lazy to read documentations for games then, maybe this game is really not for you because it took me quite a while reading and rereading the documentation to get myself familiarise with the different characteristics and properties of the many different weapons, soldiers and ships. once i got the hang of all the weapons and ships, i really started to enjoy this game very very much. so come on pilots, warriors, soldiers, mineral miners, and even truck drivers! try out this game. u will love it. just give your self more time to learn the game and maybe you will be able to destroy my base soon hahaha. if you even dare try! oh by the way just in case you 1 2 know, my log in Id is kt which stands for kelvin tan. ok. time to destroy steady's base now hahahah.
Hello, let me warn you. To destroy my base, I won't say that is mission impossible, but it will be a difficult task. It is still fun trying though. I have gone through the stage of reading the documentation, confuse! Play the game, very blur! Read help file and play again, then get the hang of this game. Plan my stretegy in the bathroom, and become a tough galaxy ranger. If you are a new player and need help, I will gladly give you some advice.
I'll tell you why I haven't tried it...Most games offer at least a 10 day demo, however, from what I read this one is only for 3 days. I don't feel this is enough time to get use to, understand and decide if one enjoys the game enough to put out the extra money. I've got to be careful when selecting my games to buy, and if I can't even have a decent amount of time to decide if the game is worth the money I've got to be very careful with...When spending the money could effect the rest of my family...I won't even try it.
ya. i kind of agree that a 3 day demo period is a little too short for some of the gamers out there. what i suggest is that you go ahead and read the documentation on the vipgameszone webside and fully understand the aspects of the game first and then u install the demo. in this case i think 3 days should be enough for most people.
ok steady. i lost to u the first time we played but the next time won't be that easy anymore! hahahha! i kind of thought of a way a pass your defences. we'll see whether it works. better tighten up your defence! because i will be coming for u soon!
I don't agree. If I'm going to spend the money I want an appropriate amount of time to know if it's worth it. *sigh* I'm a programmer and would never do that to any of my buyers.
The fun thing about this game is that every game is different. The coordinates of our base is not fixed. The stretegy has to depend on the location of both our bases. Kt, look forward to our next game. Also do help beginners get the hang of this game if we play with them online.
sure i will.
Hello Witchcraft, Thank you for your comments. I will feedback to vipgameszone.
I agree that 3 days demo is a bit short especially for this type of game when there are so many things to note, but why not you still give this game a try? The html documentation is on the site. You can read it and have an idea of the game while downloading the program. If you are into stretegy planning and shooting, you won't regret it. After you register, do let me know your ID and we can play online.
I think the reason that a lot of blind people haven't picked it up is this. This game, as cool as it is is extremely advanced for certain blind people. At least with me, but I've kind of noticed some blind people have spacial issues with 3 d environments. part of this is because of the amount of things they have to keep track of. a game for the sighted would be easier seeing as a visual map could be displayed. maybe one day we'll see the advent of refreshable braille boards that could be used to show maps. The game overall is pretty cool, but might be a little too advanced for it's time. Igor has created a game that serves a certain nich. This type of game is refered to as a realtime strategy. Realtime Strategy games only seem to apeal to certain types of folks.

Ya it does sound like a cool game!
Oh, man. I really did not like this game. I don't buy games, as I have said, but if I were going to purchase a game at some point in the future, this would not be the one. It takes way, way, way too long to play through one game. I don't have that kind of time! Also, the game requires that you focus on it to the exclusion of all else. I really can't be doing that for hours on end. At least with a game like poker you can chat or eat or something while playing. In order to keep track of this game (I have tried it with the computer) I find myself having to slip into a near zen trans-like state where the rest of the universe stops existing and my mind is clear of all other thoughts. I find this state hard to keep up for more than, say, three minutes at a time. When I do want realtime games, I find companies like l-works have the right idea. Egg hunt is a really excelent example. I suck at it thus far (lack of practice and a crappy keyboard), but I _know_ I will be able to polish off a game of super egg hunt in a little over three minutes. That's perfect for those in between times when I'm killing time waiting for something. Also, because my time investment is so small, when someone walks up to me and distracts me I really don't care that I will get an atrocious score on that game. I no I can start over again and be back to near the place I left off in under three minutes. If someone distracted me from galaxy, on the other hand, and caused me to lose track of what was going on, I would have to kill them. I know I have just lost a probably important advantage, I most likely will not be able to recover it again, and I will lose a game that I've spent lots of time on. I think it's better for the world that my demo expired long ago.
I don't know, but I like text games better. At least you can picture in your mind your surroundings, like reading a book.
I bought galaxy ranger after checking it out for the thre day demo, because there was no other way of progressing with the game due to the shortage of demo time. i must say this, it's possibly the worst decission I ever made when buying accessible games. not that the game isn't a good one, but there wasn't enough time to get to know the game, and although i ploughed through the documentation, making copias notes, I still can't get my head round that game. now I'm up for a challenge, but you at least need to know where the door is before you can enter the maze right?
LOL, exactly why I won't check it out. I want to make sure it's worth the purchase first.
